IEEE MSIT with the aim of "leading the wave of change" aspires to achieve excellence in all its endeavors. They organized an event on 13th September 2020 at 5pm on CISCO Webex. The challenges faced by the world due to COVID-19 are not just the medical ones. The pandemic has affected our mobility, employment, education and even family life. So to overcome the same IEEE MSIT in collaboration with Tech Top Trust is organizing INNOVATION WORKSHOP SERIES to introduce design thinking as a tool to: ● Predict future challenges emerging from the pandemic ● Identify the opportunities that can create social impact ● Develop solutions that could lead to entrepreneurship Our speaker and instructor prof. Rajesh Nair (Prof. of Practice, Innovation and Entrepreneurship, Asia School of Business, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia and an alumnus of Massachusetts Institute of Technology, USA) tried to break down the steps to apply design thinking of the post-COVID world. Sessions 1. Applying creativity and ideation 2. Empathy for problem identification 3. Creating and validating solution 4. Introduction to entrepreneurship 5. Final student team presentations How to apply ● Organize teams of 4 students each plus one staff (optional) ● Each team may consist of students of different disciplines and years of study ● Each team should include female and male students ● Age group of participants: 15 – 25 years ● Deadline for applications : 13th September , 2020 Attendance : It was a power packed session with more than 150 attendees and it was an interactive session. It can be proudly stated that this initiative proved to me very fruitful to students.
